Here we go

The house sold quicker than expected which meant Dennis and I were officially homeless! With the storage unit filled to capacity and the car filled with the rest of our belongings--we had no place to stay for the next 2 weeks of work. We owe a huge THANK YOU to our good friend, Joycie, who opened up her home to us. BIG HUGS! We spent the next two weeks finalizing our travel plans, washing laundry, feeding farm friends and dining with the best. Friday June 25th, we found the last two places to sit and headed to I-10!
After a 3 hour drive to Jacksonville we met up with son Buck for a great dinner at Caddy Shack at World Golf Village. It was a beautiful night so we took a stroll around the man made lake and called it a night. We spent the rest of the weekend with Dennis' son and girlfriend sitting at the pool and soaking up the sun. Dennis took me to Aqua East Surf Shop in St. Augustine and then we toured the rest of the city including the Lighthouse,

the Fort, Flagler College, downtown Old St. Augustine and then stopped to eat a slice of pizza and a ice cold beer at Pizzalley

Had a great dinner at PF's and headed back for a nightcap and a movie. After a lazy morning of coffee and breakfast, we hit the road again towards Columbia, SC to see "Norma's Oldest and Meanest Sister"--NOT!

After 8 hours of scary driving on the interstate, we met Karen at Rockaway, Athletic Club for a great burger, hot and crispy french fries and an ice cold beer.

We spent the rest of the day at her house visiting with her 3 children--HAH! Karen has 3 of the most beautiful Alaskan Malamutes--Katie, Misty and Cash--ths is Mysty. They are all spoiled rotten show dogs but all are very well behaved and require lots of love and attention!
The three of us went to see "Grown Ups" ate frozen custard, had a tall glass of wine and called it a day. After another good nights rest, left sister Karens and began the long drive to our Nations Capitol.

Talk about crazy drivers--Geesh! I tried to do anything but watch the road! I attempted to crochet my doiley, read the atlas--are you kidding? That took 5 minutes. I cleaned out the glove box, the side compartment of my door, picked up the trash on the floor board, filed my fingernails, tried to file Dennis' but I remembered that we sold the wood file at the last garage sale. We listened to the radio, talked about the weather, our families, music trivia, our diet! yeah right! the lack there of. I finally resorted to reading one of the 2 dozen AAA Travel Tour books on Bar Harbor but began to get car sick so I quickly put that aside.

We gave the 30 minute out phone call to Whitney, met her in the middle of our Nations Capitol and followed her to our rest stop for the night and this is where this post will end.

  1. I feel like you are right here telling me all of this. Keep it coming! This was fun to read, and I hope you are having fun. Keep your noses clean, and don't take any wooden nickels.
