Acadia National Park

We had an awesome breakfast at Cafe This Way right next door before we left for ACADIA NATIONAL PARK. OMG! Dennis and I actually went to the main office at the park to find out how we could work there next summer.... I will let the pictures speak for themselves. There really so many pictures that we had taken here so we had to pick and choose. We found out that we had just missed the First Family by a week.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Dennis and I, Paul and Betty left the farm in New York when it was almost 100 degrees and arrived in Bar Harbor, Maine later in the day and believe it or not it was 69 degrees! We actually had to purchase a fleece jacket!
We quickly checked into the Acadia Inn right in the middle of town and immediately migrated towards the nearest restaurant that would serve the lobster dinner that all four of us were craving since we had began the trip! We did not have to wait long for a table overlooking the harbor at Stewmans.

After every last bit of Larry the Lobster had disappeared, we managed to push ourselves away from the table and waddle up the street towards the hotel. Great little shops with lots of future garage sale items that we left behind.

We decided to call it a night and meet upstairs on the little balcony that overlooked downtown for a glass of wine to cap off the night.

A Day in the Life of a Farm Boy

Hey All!
We made it to the farm in Cochecton, NY--in the Catskill Mountains. As soon as Dennis rounded the corner on River Road, he saw the weathered remains of the greenhouse that he's been threatening to tear down for the last 3 years. Everyone works on the farm--except the photographer and the Supervisor--Newie. Enjoy!Be Careful!

You're getting really close to that HOT WIRE!At Friendly Acres Farm everybody has a job including Newie!Watch Out, Paul!Still Swingin' at 80!
Where IS Paul?
Paul is ready to load up the GATOR!Lemonade anyone?

Dennis is taking the remains to the trash pile to the back 40.

At the end of the day with Supervisor Newie!

An Evening with the Girls

Let's face it folks, Jugi is the real reason for our stop in DC! Not! but I sure did miss this little girl!
Here are the pictures of the evening with the girls. It was really good to finally get a hug and to finally see where they are living

I will post more tomorrow...it is time to get ready to go out again and eat.
That seems to be all we have been doing....Eating, sleeping, driving, oh and more eating...

I love DC---so many people to watch and not enough Starbucks Coffee to drink while doing just that--watching people...
see ya tomorrow

Here we go

The house sold quicker than expected which meant Dennis and I were officially homeless! With the storage unit filled to capacity and the car filled with the rest of our belongings--we had no place to stay for the next 2 weeks of work. We owe a huge THANK YOU to our good friend, Joycie, who opened up her home to us. BIG HUGS! We spent the next two weeks finalizing our travel plans, washing laundry, feeding farm friends and dining with the best. Friday June 25th, we found the last two places to sit and headed to I-10!
After a 3 hour drive to Jacksonville we met up with son Buck for a great dinner at Caddy Shack at World Golf Village. It was a beautiful night so we took a stroll around the man made lake and called it a night. We spent the rest of the weekend with Dennis' son and girlfriend sitting at the pool and soaking up the sun. Dennis took me to Aqua East Surf Shop in St. Augustine and then we toured the rest of the city including the Lighthouse,

the Fort, Flagler College, downtown Old St. Augustine and then stopped to eat a slice of pizza and a ice cold beer at Pizzalley

Had a great dinner at PF's and headed back for a nightcap and a movie. After a lazy morning of coffee and breakfast, we hit the road again towards Columbia, SC to see "Norma's Oldest and Meanest Sister"--NOT!

After 8 hours of scary driving on the interstate, we met Karen at Rockaway, Athletic Club for a great burger, hot and crispy french fries and an ice cold beer.

We spent the rest of the day at her house visiting with her 3 children--HAH! Karen has 3 of the most beautiful Alaskan Malamutes--Katie, Misty and Cash--ths is Mysty. They are all spoiled rotten show dogs but all are very well behaved and require lots of love and attention!
The three of us went to see "Grown Ups" ate frozen custard, had a tall glass of wine and called it a day. After another good nights rest, left sister Karens and began the long drive to our Nations Capitol.

Talk about crazy drivers--Geesh! I tried to do anything but watch the road! I attempted to crochet my doiley, read the atlas--are you kidding? That took 5 minutes. I cleaned out the glove box, the side compartment of my door, picked up the trash on the floor board, filed my fingernails, tried to file Dennis' but I remembered that we sold the wood file at the last garage sale. We listened to the radio, talked about the weather, our families, music trivia, our diet! yeah right! the lack there of. I finally resorted to reading one of the 2 dozen AAA Travel Tour books on Bar Harbor but began to get car sick so I quickly put that aside.

We gave the 30 minute out phone call to Whitney, met her in the middle of our Nations Capitol and followed her to our rest stop for the night and this is where this post will end.
